Africa

Africa has been an increasingly popular honeymoon destination and we see no sign of this trend slowing down. More than ever, honeymooners are seeking true, once-in-a-lifetime experiences that will become a trip they can reminisce on for the rest of their lives together. And what better way to do that than by traveling to one of the most wildlife-abundant destinations in the world?

The best time to visit Africa largely depends on the region you plan to explore. Generally, the dry season, which varies across different parts of the continent, is often considered ideal for wildlife viewing and safaris, offering clearer skies and easier animal sightings. However, specific times may vary based on factors such as migration patterns, weather, and personal preferences for activities like birdwatching or cultural events. Our team can help determine the optimal time to visit based on the region you’re narrowing in on.

Singita Sasakwa Lodge

Singita Sasakwa is the main permanent lodge of the Singita properties in the area and offers the epitome of luxury with a gentle blend of Europe/East African décor. The suites are spread out throughout the property offering privacy in your home away from home. The main house was, quite literally, a full house including a TV room (the only TVs we saw on the trip were at Singita properties!), multiple common areas, a dining room, and a pool. All buildings include air conditioning and each villa has a private plunge pool.

Throughout the property, you’ll find modern comforts to help you enjoy your stay in style. You could spend your whole trip on the property and never want to leave! Although, we highly recommend trying out a few game drives. You can learn more about our stay and review other Singita properties in Tanzania here.

Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti

Surrounded by the world-renowned wildlife reserve, guests are immersed in the natural wonders of the region, with the chance to witness the iconic Big Five roaming freely across the vast landscape at Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti. Perched on elevated platforms, the lodge provides stunning views of an animal watering hole, where you can observe elephants and other wildlife while enjoying the serenity of their private balcony.

Guided game drives led by local Maasai tribes offer exhilarating encounters with nature, while hot-air balloon safaris provide a unique perspective from above. After a day of adventure, you can rejuvenate at the spa, ensuring you’re both ready for the next thrilling experience. With such a wealth of opportunities for exploration and relaxation, Four Seasons Serengeti is high on our list for an exceptional honeymoon journey.

Raffles Seychelles

Nestled on the lush green hillsides just a short drive from Vallée de Mai, a primeval palm forest, Raffles Seychelles is a romantic resort that feels like a utopia. The 86 contemporary and uncluttered villas come complete with private plunge pools, outdoor pavilions, and attentive butler service, making them an ideal setting for a romantic escape. The resort’s dedication to well-being is evident in the Raffles Spa, which offers yoga, meditation, and natural treatments, allowing couples to unwind after a long year of wedding planning and celebrations.

Costa Rica

The third smallest country in Latin America, Costa Rica, draws the greatest number of travelers for its lush rainforests and eco-luxury tourism. The country boasts unspoiled beaches and forests, offering Latin America’s ultimate coastal retreat on both its Pacific and its Caribbean Sea coastlines. Living by the slogan “Pura Vida,” meaning pure life, the culture here embraces a way of life that values a laid-back and simple kind of living, which is easier to do when surrounded by an abundance of natural beauty.

The time of year when you should visit depends on the experience you desire. From December to April, Costa Rica offers its sunniest days with drier weather. And while its wet season occurs from May to November, this is the best time to take advantage of low occupancy and cost-effective rates.

The island offers stunning landscapes, from lush rice terraces to beautiful beaches, perfect for romantic adventures or R&R. You can hike through rich forests, snorkel in clear waters, or simply relax on secluded shores. Bali’s rich cultural heritage adds to the charm, with ancient temples nestled in jungles and traditional rituals to experience.

The best time to visit Bali typically falls during the dry season, which runs from April to September. During this time, the weather is generally sunny with lower humidity, making it ideal for outdoor activities and sightseeing. Additionally, the peak tourist season in Bali occurs from June to August, so visitors can expect vibrant cultural events and bustling attractions during these months. However, it’s worth noting that Bali’s tropical climate means that even during the wet season (October to March), there are still plenty of sunny days, and accommodations may be more affordable.

Capella Ubud, Bali

Capella Ubud, Bali is an exceptional nature-centric hotel nestled within lush green forests. Inspired by the spirit of adventure of early European settlers, the camp offers a unique experience amidst Bali’s untouched natural surroundings. Amandari, meaning “peaceful spirits,” offers honeymooners a serene escape immersed in the natural beauty of Bali. Located just five minutes from Ubud, Central Bali’s vibrant art community, Amandari is designed as a traditional Balinese village, with river-stone walkways and high paras-stone walls. The resort’s open-air lobby, resembling a wantilan, serves as a welcoming village meeting place. A sacred pathway leads from Amandari down to a holy water pool, frequented by Balinese for centuries.

The resort’s 30 walled, thatched-roof suites, some featuring private pools, offer luxurious accommodations surrounded by private garden courtyards. The Galápagos Islands

Whether visiting via cruise or staying in a luxury lodge, the Galápagos Islands are an ideal honeymoon destination for nature enthusiasts. Here, couples can immerse themselves in the pristine beauty of untouched landscapes and encounter unique wildlife found nowhere else on Earth. From snorkeling with sea lions to hiking through volcanic terrain, the islands offer endless opportunities for outdoor adventures. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site and marine reserve, the Galápagos are committed to preserving its natural wonders, ensuring a sustainable and unforgettable experience for honeymooners.

The peak tourist season is from June to August and December to January, coinciding with the dry and cooler season. During this time, you can expect calmer seas, warmer temperatures, and excellent visibility for snorkeling and diving. Additionally, this period offers optimal wildlife viewing opportunities, including the chance to see mating rituals and newborn animals.

If you prefer fewer crowds and don’t mind slightly warmer temperatures, shoulder seasons such as April to May and September to November can be excellent times to visit. During these months, you can still enjoy good weather conditions and abundant wildlife, but with fewer tourists.

Each hale is a standalone bungalow with palm-thatched roofs, paying homage to the original structures of Kona Village. Choose from a mountain, garden, lagoon, ocean, oceanfront, or beachfront view for these rooms. In our opinion, the most unique room choices in this category are the Ocean Front Legacy Hale or the Tree Top King Hale.

Guests can relax in the warm Hawaiian sun and rejuvenate with refreshing swims in any of the four outdoor pools, each providing poolside service and breathtaking views of the natural surroundings. For couples seeking active leisure, Kona Village provides fully equipped pickleball and tennis courts, perfect for engaging and enjoying quality time together. Four Seasons Lanai is more than just a hotel; it’s a game-changer in the world of luxury travel. It’s hard to pinpoint one thing that makes this resort special because it’s the complete package. The resort is nestled on a lush island with just 3,100 residents and 88,000 acres of untouched beauty, making it one of our favorite tropical honeymoon destinations. And a fun fact, Angela from Team O spent part of her honeymoon here so she can personally vouch for this romantic paradise.

What sets Four Seasons Lanai apart is its direct ownership and operation of every activity, ensuring a consistently exceptional five-star experience. Whether it’s snorkeling, scuba diving, deep-sea fishing, or enchanting sunset sails, their fleet of boats is ready to take you on aquatic adventures. On land, enjoy horseback riding, UTV tours, archery, shooting range, tennis, and access to a comprehensive spa. The accommodations, from the spacious, comfortable rooms to the meticulously designed bathrooms, provide a perfect sanctuary for you and your partner.
