This is a continuation of my report from my 2-week trip exploring Tanzania. For an overview of the regions of Tanzania, start with this blog post first.
We stayed with Singita Serengeti House and Singita Explore Mobile Tented Camp for the last two nights of our trip and were lucky enough to stop by the other Singita properties in the area. Singita takes luxury safari to a whole new level and truly made us feel like royalty! The accommodations, service, and, well, everything about the Singita experience just cannot be beaten!

Singita Sasakwais the main permanent lodge of the Singita properties in the area and offers the epitome of luxury with a gentle blend of Europe/East African décor. The suites are spread out throughout the property offering privacy in your home away from home. The main house was, quite literally, a full house including a TV room (the only TVs we saw on the trip were at Singita properties!), multiple common areas, a dining room, and a pool. All buildings include air conditioning and each villa has a private plunge pool. Throughout the property, you’ll find modern comforts to help you enjoy your stay in style. You could spend your whole trip on the property and never want to leave! Although, I would recommend trying out a few game drives.
The vehicles offered by Singita for the game drives are state of the art, including plugs by each seat for your camera, phone, and other electronic devices. The guides receive the best training available, and are sure to provide you with the ultimate game drive experience!
Singita Serengeti House is a private house set away from Singita Sasakwa for the ultimate private home away from home. The main house includes 2 rooms, with 2 villas right next to the house. To reserve accommodations here, they request that you all four rooms, so this property is perfect for families, groups of friends, family reunions, etc – any party including 4-10 people will find a perfect fit in Singita Serengeti House.
We were lucky enough to stay the night here as our group numbers fit the house perfectly. There is a dedicated staff for the house that sees to our every need, including a movie and popcorn night to relax after a long day of game drives! The chef visited us personally before each meal to discuss the menu; we opted for a tapas-style meal, so really we could enjoy multiple entrees with each sitting. And I’m so glad we did! The food was decadent and I’m still dreaming of the cucumber chilled soup!
Arrive at Singita Sabora, a permanent tented camp, and you’ll feel like you’ve entered an Indiana Jones film with the beautiful Classic Hemingway décor, complete with 3 classic cars parked outside! There is air conditioning throughout the property but each building is, in fact, a tent. Considering they have a gym, spa, and pool at the main house – you’ll find that hard to believe!
Tents are spaced out to provide privacy and each has its own day bed set out in the grass to enjoy the sweeping views and wildlife. We stopped by for a quick site visit, but decided to stay for the afternoon as this particular afternoon was hotter than the rest of our trip; honestly, I wasn’t going to complain. We spent the afternoon lunching next to the pool and sipping blended Amarula iced cappuccinos while watching the wildlife that surrounded us. I think Indiana Jones would approve!
We stopped by Singita Faru Faru for breakfast one morning (the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever experienced) and were lucky enough to have a quick walk-through of the property.
The lush forest environment almost brought me back to Lake Manyara Tree Lodge, but the property is entirely unique and all Singita. Featuring more diverse terrain than most forests, this offers a perfect view above the multiple watering holes nearby to view wildlife from the comfort of your own suite.
Each suite features an entire glass wall overlooking these watering holes – and my goodness the view! The décor is the most modern that we saw on this trip, and very well done with an almost “by-the-sea” theme featuring bamboo walls and seashell lamps.
With its modern décor and lush surroundings, Singita Faru Faru provides the best happy medium between luxury and “in the bush”. What better way to experience the wildlife of Africa than from modern luxury comfort!
Singita Explore Mobile Tented Camp
If Ngorongoro Crater Lodge was my favorite lodge we visited, Singita Explore Mobile Tented Camp was by far my favorite mobile tented camp. But I promise, I’m not picking favorites!
The décor of this camp, I felt, was the most complete and well-thought-out. The style was modern, but the blues and tans of the color scheme kept that touch of classic luxury safari. Each tent came complete with running water, an indoor gravity bucket shower, and quite possibly the most comfortable beds of the trip. The tents were more spacious than our previous stops and included a lounge area with a writing desk.
What moved me the most was the amazing staff that manages the camp. They were so welcoming and in tune with our every need, I think they knew what I needed before I did! The food was impeccable and, I didn’t believe it, all cooked over a campfire.
We spent the final night of our safari surrounding a campfire while enjoying the wide expanse of stars above us; the perfect end to a perfect trip!
