Up Next: Barcelona, Mallorca, and Menorca

Next week, I will once again be returning to my favorite country, Spain! A country that is filled with so much to see and do, Spain offers a new experience every time I arrive. In contrast to my last trip to Spain, where I spent my time trekking through the South side of the country, I will now be exploring Barcelona, Mallorca and Menorca. As the itinerary comes together, there are a few highlights that stand out!

Barcelona:

Barcelona

This European city ranks high on most people’s destination wish lists and for good reason; Barcelona has something for everyone! The food, culture, and weather are all unbeatable. During my time in Barcelona, I will be staying at the Grand Hotel Central and Majestic Hotel & Spa. Grand Hotel Central is in El Born District, the older, more local area of the city. El Born is home to the Picasso Museum and the beautiful Ciutadella Park. Majestic Hotel & Spa is located on Passeig de Gràcia, a bit more touristy than El Born. Once I settle into Barcelona, I will travel up to Tibidabo. Tibidabo is the tallest mountain in the Serra de Collserola and offers incredible views of the city and surrounding waters.

Mallorca:

This destination is the largest of Spain’s Balearic Islands, situated between Ibiza and Menorca. Mallorca is a perfect island to enjoy the Mediterranean lifestyle. Although an incredible beach destination, this island offers so much more than just that. Mallorca is rich in culture, landscapes, and has an abundance of activities. I will be staying at the St. Regis Mardavall during my time in Mallorca. The resort is located in a bluff overlooking the ocean. I will be experiencing the city of Palma from a walking tour, followed by exploring castles and cathedrals. I will even have the opportunity to be a part of a wine tasting at Finca Son Bordils. There is always time for Spanish wine!

If you’re looking for further Mallorca travel inspiration, I recently stumbled upon and bookmarked these resources for future itinerary design reference:

Menorca:

Right to the northeast of Mallorca, is the less touristy island, Menorca. This island is much more laid back and low-key compared to Mallorca and has a small town vibe. I will be taking walking tours of the island’s capital, Mahon, and the second primary city, Ciutadella. I will have the opportunity to hike the trails of the Camí de Cavalls, an ancient path that encircles the island, and relax and enjoy the sunshine on a private boat charter. I will be splitting my time between Hotel Can Faustino and Hotel Torralbenc. Both hotels are smaller with a more boutique feel with a decor genuine to the destination. The Menorca portion of the itinerary has been planned in partnership with Madrid & Beyond and I’m very excited to travel with them again!

David and Angela are joining me on this incredible itinerary and we will be sure to post frequently to Instagram while we’re abroad and we’ll be sharing a full report when we return. I hope our experiences will inspire you to consider Spain for your next trip!
