JNB, JHB, Joberg, Jozi … This city has many nicknames. Historically, it hasn’t been a city with many fans. It used to be the city that you just had to go through to start your South African safari. Travelers spent as little time there as possible and, if they were “forced” to stay overnight, they would head out to Pretoria. But all of that is changing….
These days, Johannesburg is going through quite a cultural re-awakening. There is so much going on and there is definitely an energetic vibe when you walk around. The Four Seasons is the new kid in town; they invested quite a bit in the old Westcliff and gave it a major makeover. I don’t think the Four Seasons is far off when they call the city a destination in itself. I think their investment is well-placed and I hope more travelers build-in time specifically for Johannesburg!
Accepting reservations for arrivals from December 1st, 2014, I expect The Four Seasons to be a great first impression. It looks like they’ve knocked it out of the park on the rooms; I’ll be seeing it in person in December and I’ll be sure to report back!
